A souped-up Triumph Bobber claims to have broken not one, but two records at the Pendine Sands in Wales.

Thornton Hundred Motorcycles founder, Jody Millhouse, has taken a souped-up Triumph Bobber and blasted it to speeds of over 130mph at the Pendine Sands in Wales.

The stripped-back machine was built at Thornton Hundred’s base in Milton Keynes, who have a history for creating some of the most unique and appealing custom Triumph bobbers.

But instead of beauty, this particular bike was built purely for performance as it reportedly achieved a half-mile speed of 132mph. The Land Speed Bobber is also said to have completed a quarter-mile run at 106.98mph.

The bike’s journey to this point is a rather interesting one, as it arrived from America with nothing but a damaged frame more than eight months ago. From there, Thornton Hundred Motorcycles tweaked the aero and chassis with performance in mind.

In preparation for the record attempts, the bike was also given carbon fibre wheels, as was an Akrapovic exhaust system.

You can see how the custom build creators went from turning the frame into a full-on land speed racer on the company’s official YouTube channel. But as well as the build process, the video also features footage from the record attempts.

As part of a social media post, Thornton Hundred said this about the company’s idea behind creating a land speed racer:

“For the last 10 years Thornton Hundred has been obsessed with pushing British engineering, performance and design further and further. From starting in a shipping container with nothing but a credit card and an idea, to now breaking records at one of the most legendary locations in motorsport history.

“That same development and race winning pedigree gets built directly into every single bike and part we create. We push our own machines to the limit so that you know your bike has been engineered at the absolute highest level possible.”
