Suzuki offers up to 10-year warranty on new and used bikes

Suzuki is pretty confident in the quality of its bikes – so much so that it’s offering a super-long warranty.

Here’s one for the ‘Obvious Things Done For Obvious Reasons’ file. Suzuki, a brand that has a reputation for building bulletproof engines, has announced that it will begin offering warranties of up to 10 years.

Or 70,000 miles – whichever comes first.

This is a kind of extended warranty that goes beyond the standard three-year affair that comes with any new Suzuki. Although, here’s the catch: to be eligible for the extended warranty you’ll need to make sure your bike is always serviced at an authorised Suzuki dealership.

That’s a bit of a letdown – especially considering that Suzuki’s bikes are relatively easy to work on – but, equally, the cost of getting a Suzuki serviced is far more palatable than what’s expected by certain ‘premium’ brands.

Here’s the really good news, though:

“Buyers of secondhand used models can also benefit from the warranty, even if their Suzuki has a gap in its service history,” says Suzuki. “Following a health check and service at their nearest dealership, Suzuki GB will restart the bike’s warranty cover.”

We don’t want to go all Suzuki fanboy here, but this strikes us as a pretty good deal. If not simply because it shows you how much faith the brand has in its products. It’s reasonable to assume that if Suzuki’s willing to cover your bike for 10 years, it’s pretty confident that the product will last far longer than that.

“Offering Up-To-10-Year Warranty was a logical step for us,” says Suzuki GB’s customer retention manager, Jacob Lewis. “We know the rigorous levels of testing and development our motorcycles are subjected to, which is why we have the confidence we do in their reliability and performance. Of course, they are mechanical objects and sometimes parts need replacing. However, our customers can rest assured and benefit from the added peace of mind of knowing that their bike is covered, allowing them to ride longer and worry less.”
