French helmet heavyweight Shark has just signed on as an official licensed partner of MotoGP, marking one of the biggest moves in the brand’s 35-year history.

The partnership will see the launch of the first-ever official MotoGP helmet collection, scheduled to arrive for the 2026 season.

And this actually might be a bit more than simply some MotoGP decals slapped on the shell. Shark is pitching this as a full-on collaboration, built around performance, innovation and safety.

A new era for Shark and MotoGP

Racing has always been a big part of Shark’s DNA, since its founding in 1989, the brand has gone from its first world title with Raymond Roche in 1990 to 79 world championship victories across multiple disciplines. As we saw with its Aeron GP, which was effectively tested by Johan Zarco in the world championship, competition is seen as the best laboratory for new products.

The partnership promises a renewed focus on top-level competition while giving Shark a global platform to showcase its products, all wrapped in the headline announcement: the launch of a brand-new official MotoGP helmet range for fans and riders alike.

The first Shark x MotoGP collection will include five models, with two Aeron GP FIM #2 helmets built to meet the forthcoming FIM2 standard, alongside a standard Aeron offering the same performance but without the A2S spoiler. Joining them will be two all-new additions in the form of the Skwal Cup and the Skwal Jet Cup. Shark claims the entire range will deliver MotoGP-level comfort, protection and performance – but in a package that is still usable on the road.

Speaking about the partnership, Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO, Dorna Sports, said:

“This official MotoGP licensed collection is a powerful symbol of our growth. The values of MotoGP—passion, excitement, courage—can now be worn by fans on the road. Shark is a historic brand, committed to the highest safety standards. We are proud of this partnership.”

Christophe Merkel, CEO, 2 Ride, added:

“It is an honour to create this licensed collection, true to the values of MotoGP and Shark. Our ambition is clear: to offer high-end, innovative helmets that meet the requirements of the highest level of motorcycle racing.”

The first new helmets to come from the collaboration are slated to arrive in March 2026, with the agreement running from then until 2028. We’ll be sure to bring you all the information on the new products as soon as we have it.
