Bayliss to make WSB comeback?
"I am thinking about starting again, honestly"
TRIPLE WORLD Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss is seriously contemplating a return to competitive racing, with a view to topping Carl Fogarty's race-winning record, the Australian has revealed.
Speaking to American website SuperbikePlanet.com, Bayliss confessed he believes he quit the sport too early and is missing the buzz of competitive motorcycle racing.
"All I can say is that I am going back to ride the bike again," Bayliss said, "and I am thinking about starting again, honestly."
It's not as though Bayliss hasn't tried to get his racing fix elsewhere; since retiring at the end of 2008 the former Ducati man has tried his hand at racing V8 cars in Australia, with some degree of success. However, it seems Bayliss is itching to get back on two wheels.
"I quit too early," Bayliss told SuperbikePlanet. "I'm pissed off because I stopped one championship short of Fogarty and I'm seven wins down on him.
"I'm not joking," he said. "This is basically all I want to say for now. If I do come back, I should be on a Ducati."
Bloody hell. What a day: Cameron to PM, Stoner to Honda and Bayliss back in WSB?
Good Lord, it's all too much. I'm off for a lie down.
Goodnight.
