UNFAMILIAR names featured at the top of the timesheets for the afternoon practice session at Assen, as Ben Spies lead Cal Crutchlow and Nicky Hayden.
Spies went quicker than the time set by his factory Yamaha team-mate from this morning, lapping the Dutch circuit in 1:34.866. He was closely followed by Crutchlow on the Tech 3 Yamaha and Ducati rider Hayden, 0.006 and 0.102 seconds behind respectively.
In fourth was Alvaro Bautista, followed by compatriots Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa. Andrea Dovizioso was the top Italian in seventh.
Valentino Rossi closed the gap to the front, finishing the session just 0.4s off Spies' fastest time for eighth in the tmesheets. Rounding out the top 10 was Casey Stoner, who was the only prototype rider to not improve his time from the morning.
