Lorenzo unhappy at Rossi tactics

2010 Championship favourite hits back after being shoved from podium place

IN A WAR of words reminiscent of Stoner and Rossi at Laguna Seca in 2008, World Champion elect Jorge Lorenzo has accused team-mate Valentino Rossi of dangerous tactics during a heated on-track battle at Motgei Motogp.

The pair were involved in an elbow-to-elbow scrap during the closing stages of the race, with Rossi fighting hard to keep hold of third place.

After a few near misses and some rock-hard passing on the brakes, Rossi kept Lorenzo behind to the line.

Describing the event as “funny – a good battle with some good overtaking” Rossi took a light-hearted view of the exchange. Team-mate Lorenzo wasn't quite as enthusiastic:

“It is good for the show,” said Lorenzo. “But when you are a rider doing 200 or 180 km/h in the corners and you feel another rider touch you, it is not a good emotion. You are putting your life at risk at this moment.”

Ironically, Lorenzo was was suspended for one race after an incident, also at Motegi, in the Spaniard's 250cc era.
