Argentina announces MotoGP contract extension
Argentina staying on the MotoGP calendar until at least 2021.
Organisers of the Argentina MotoGP have announced they have reached an agreement to continue hosting a motorcycle grand prix at Termas de Rio Hondo until at least 2021.
After an absence of 14-years, MotoGP returned to Argentina via the new Termas circuit in 2014.
Marc Marquez (twice), Valentino Rossi, Maverick Vinales and most recently Cal Crutchlow have taken victories at the circuit.
Argentina is the only South American venue on the MotoGP calendar, although a 'preliminary agreement' is in place for a return to Rio in 2021, subject to the construction of a new circuit.
