BMW Motorrad Days leaves Garmisch-Partenkirchen again in 2027

BMW Motorrad Days will not return to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2027, with BMW changing the event strategy just three years after bringing it back to Germany.

BMW Motorrad Days will not return to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2027, with BMW Motorrad pulling the plug on its big annual gathering from the Bavarian town once again.

The decision comes just three years after BMW brought Motorrad Days back to Garmisch following a spell in Berlin. The event returned to its traditional home in 2024 and attracted more than 40,000 visitors from around 50 countries the following year.

According to a statement from the Markt Garmisch-Partenkirchen, BMW has told the municipality that the event concept is being reworked, with the emphasis shifting towards regional events in international markets.

“BMW Motorrad Days will not take place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2027,” the municipality said, adding that BMW's strategic decision and its new direction were respected, although the town was disappointed to lose an event that had become closely associated with Garmisch over many years.

The move doesn't mean BMW is abandoning Motorrad Days altogether. Instead, the company is looking to put more emphasis on events closer to its customers in different markets, rather than concentrating the community into one huge gathering in Southern Germany.

Motorrad Days had become one of the biggest fixtures in the motorcycle calendar, pulling in BMW owners and fans from across Europe and beyond. Historically, it would combine new-bike launches and test rides with live entertainment, exhibitions and plenty of Bavarian beer-fuelled socialising.

The municipality is already considering what could replace it. Garmisch-Partenkirchen and GaPa Tourismus are looking at creating a new central motorcycle gathering on the first weekend of July, although the plans are still at a very early stage.
