A MOTORCYCLE racer has been killed and another injured during a race at an Australian Superbikes meet.

The incident took place at Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston, Tasmania, during the second round of the domestic Superbikes championships.

Judd Greedy, 28, died yesterday after crashing out while leading the second round of the championship.

Greedy was hit by two riders in the middle of the pack who were unable to avoid the fallen rider, one of the bikes exploding in a fireball as its fuel tank ignited on impact.

Racing was stopped for the day following the fatal crash.
