New Sidecar Race Added to Goodwood Schedule

A new shoot-out-style sidecar race has been added to the itinerary for the 2024 Goodwood Members’ Meeting event

The 2024 Goodwood Members’ Meeting will include a new shoot-out-style sidecar race, which has been organised in conjunction with multiple-time Sidecar World Champion Tim Reeves.

The new race will mark the first time modern racing sidecars have been on-track at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, and the currency of the sidecars in action will make it the first time contemporary vehicles have taken to the circuit in a public event since 1966. Ironically, therefore, the Sidecar Shoot-Out will be somewhat historic when it takes place in a couple of months’ time.

The Shoot-Out’s format will involve qualifying, head-to-head heats, and a four-outfit final.

The roster is set to be pretty stacked, too, with eight-times Sidecar World Champion Tim Reeves having been involved in the organisation of the race as well as being due to line-up for the race itself. Others on the roster include famous road racer and 14-time Isle of Man TT winner Ben Birchall (who recently announced his new passenger, following the retirement of his brother, Tom), as well as the pairing of Emmanuel Clement and Todd Ellis - two-time Sidecar World Champions themselves.

About the race at the Members’ Meeting, Tim Reeves, eight-time FIM World Sidecar Champion, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work alongside the Goodwood Content Team on bringing such a spectacular collection of sidecars. With incredible speed, high adrenaline and nail-biting cornering, Sunday's Sidecar Shoot-Out will definitely bring something new to the Goodwood Members’ Meeting.”

The 2024 Goodwood Members’ Meeting will take place on 13-14 April, with the sidecar action being spread across the two days.
