SEVENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD former British sidecar champion Gerald Wheeler is expected to take part in Bridgwater Motor Club’s motorcycle grasstrack meeting at Crossmoor Farm Spaxton, on Sunday.
The retired Bridgwater businessman, who rides a pre-1975 machine, plans to have a couple of practices then possibly compete in the restricted race. He won the British Sidecar Championship in 1970.
There is a big entry for the meeting’s solo category, with 40 riders. The sidecar entry is also strong and they will be competing for the Den Carter Trophy, which is in memory of the man who ran Motor Club events for 25 years.
