Triumph has revealed more of its incoming Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR with the mysterious new model appearing to blend the traits of a sportsbike with a cafe racer.
The British company first announced plans to launch the Speed Triple 1200 RR - which follows on from the latest generation RS - last month, but was giving precious little away beyond an obscured image that appeared to show some form of fairing.
Raising the possibility of Triumph returning to the sportsbike arena 18 months after the final edition of the Triumph Daytona - a 765cc Moto2 limited edition - rolled off the production line, the latest video from the British firm suggests it is going for something much grander for its new arrival.
While there still isn’t too much to go on - with the teasers likely to raise more questions than answers among punters - we can see Triumph is adopting a fairly unique approach with a bulbous front end and large single circular headlamp unit, giving it a large Cafe Racer appearance.
We are detecting more than a hint of the MV Agusta Superveloce 800 - itself based on the F3 sportsbike - but with 1200cc from its three-cylinder engine, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR will be significantly larger, with power figures set to be around the standard RS’ 177bhp.
