New high-spec KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo set for 2022 arrival

A new higher-spec super naked looks set to land in 2022, as a KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo is likely to arrive

KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE RR

NO sooner has the dust settled on the arrival of the new Super Duke RR launch, it seems another new super naked from Austria is on the way. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo promises a substantial chassis update for the highly successful super naked machine.

Revealed by the team over at Asphalt and Rubber, the bike has been picked up on in US-spec, although it’s easy to imagine the same bike landing in the UK and Europe at some point.

Reported to be a 2022 model, the updates aren’t numerous although one of the changes is fairly substantial.

The first upgrade is reported to be a new quick-action throttle, with around 65 degrees of movement. Not a huge update, but for those looking for improved response on road and track, a welcome enough change.

The second, and the biggest change is the move from manually adjusted WP APEX suspension to a semi-active system from the in-house manufacturer.

With the 1290 Super Duke RR being limited to a run of just 500 bikes, there will be hoards of riders globally who missed out on the highest-spec Super Duke to date. While the new Evo-spec model doesn’t quite offer the same levels of drool-worthy performance parts and goodies, it's some consolation for those wanting something a bit special parked in their garage.

2022 KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo price

We can’t be sure where Asphalt and Rubber have got their information from, although the most likely source is CARB (California Air Resources Board) documents. These have to be filled out when homologating a new vehicle.

Handily, the documents also give an idea of the new bikes RRP when it does land in US dealerships. At $19,599, the trick suspension on the Evo model costs the owner around $900 more than the stock bike - $18,699. Should that same pricing structure be applied if/when the Evo lands in the UK, the RRP would be somewhere in the region of £16,649.
