Limited edition KTM 1290 Super Duke RR announced for 2023

Back for 2023, the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR boasts the same jacked-up performance as before, with a meaner, darker aesthetic

FIRST launched in 2021, the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR was a lighter, better looking and more focused version of the flag-ship super naked motorcycle. After that original iteration of the machine sold out in under an hour, it’s no surprise to see KTM rolling out a new 2023 version of the limited edition machine.

Like the original bike, a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1 is achieved with the weight down to 180kg (11kg lighter than the stock bike) and power at a claimed 180 bhp. Torque output is equally impressive, with 140Nm (103lb-ft) claimed from the 1,301cc machine.

Like the 2021 model, the subframe and seat are carbon fibre, and there is extensive use of the lightweight material in the rest of the bike's bodywork, including the front mudguard, rear hugger, fuel tank cover and engine protectors.

Suspension naturally comes from in-house specialists WP, who have brought out their WP APEX PRO 7548 closed cartridge WP APEX PRO 7746 shock, both fully adjustable. Helping to drive home the bike’s track-ready intentions, the bike comes with pre-equipped Track and Performance riding modes, and for those wanting even more power, Akrapovič Evo full-system exhaust can lower weight, crank up the volume and release some more ponies.

The most easy-to-spot change between this bike and the 2021 model is in the styling, with the 2023 machine wearing a much darker, moodier look. The colour scheme is gloss black over mat-finished carbon, with white graphics and orange accents like the frame, subframe and headlight.
