Michael Dunlop is Competing at Le Mans This Weekend on a BMW
Michael Dunlop is set to compete at the 24h of Le Mans race this weekend, aboard a BMW M1000 RR

Michael Dunlop is set to compete at this weekend’s 24h of Le Mans race as part of the Team LRP Poland line-up alongside Danny Webb, Enzo Boulom and Polish rider Marek Szkopek.
Dunlop and his teammates will race a BMW M1000 RR, the same bike Dunlop is reportedly set to race in the 1000cc events at this year’s Isle of Man TT although we have no confirmation of that just yet.
After already competing at the Daytona 200 aboard a Ducati Panigale V2, Dunlop is set for a return to action at Le Mans, his third time racing at the French circuit as part of the Endurance World Championship.
A 29-time race winner at the Isle of Man TT, this year’s road races at the legendary mountain course will be Dunlop’s main priority as he goes in search of a 30th career win across all the classes.
In last year’s 24 hours of Le Mans race Dunlop finished 16th overall, but seventh in the Superstock category.
The decision to race with BMW in the Endurance World Championship came as very little shock as it's a brand he’s enjoyed plenty of success with, especially at the TT as six of his wins have come with the German manufacturer.
“It’s a tough race but it’s a good event and come race day the atmosphere is mental,” said Dunlop. “Le Mans really is a big hitter, it’s a race everybody talks about and I don’t see why I can’t do well. I’ve got good teammates, but the problem with Le Mans is you can think all you want but when you come here it really is a lottery.”
The 24 Heures Motos weekend begins with free practice, first qualifying and night practice today, Thursday 17 April, and is followed by second qualifying on Friday morning. The race will get underway at 14:00 UK time on Saturday 19 April.
