UK-based LITELOK expands popular range
The algorithm has almost certainly fed you videos of people trying and failing to cut through this brand’s locks. Now they’ve added another option.

UK-based LITELOK – the U-lock maker you’ve almost certainly heard about by now – has expanded its range to include the new LITELOK X1 PLUS.
Internet famous for being almost impervious to angle grinders, LITELOK products have earned a reputation for reliability. This new variation on the theme offers “all the benefits of the LITELOK X1 but with a longer reach shackle,” explains a media release.
“I’m incredibly proud to add the LITELOK X1 PLUS to our range of grinder-resistant U-locks,” the release quotes LITELOK Founder and CEO Neil Barron as saying. “This has been a much-requested addition to the standard X1, which is our most popular product. We love the fact that it’s also made in our solar-powered factory in Swansea, utilising 21st century manufacturing technology, combined with the love, care, and craft of our highly trained local workforce.”
Hitherto, I was unaware that LITELOK products are made in Wales. Chwarae teg, bois.
Aimed at both motorcyclists and bicyclists (and, perhaps, people with gates that they want to keep shut), the extended length of the X1 PLUS makes it easier for users to secure their vehicle to something. A popular tactic, for example, is connecting it to the security chain of another bike.
I’ve done this at motorbike parking spots at airports or in big cities. It inherently makes both vehicles safer, and if the other rider wants to leave before I do, it’s no fuss for them to get their chain free of my lock.
Weighing in at just 1.9 kg, the X1 PLUS boasts three layers of security: a hardened fine-grain high-tensile steel core to provide inner strength; the company’s so-called Barronium composite (made up “multiple, extremely hard ceramic and metallic materials”); and a soft rubber outer layer to prevent scratching.
Costing £199.99, and available for purchase as of today from LITELOK’s website, the X1 PLUS is the third flavour of X lock in the company’s range. It joins the £149.99 X1 and the £249.99 X3, which have both received a high amount of praise.
The whole range, which was first launched in 2022, “has passed Sold Secure Bicycle Diamond, Sold SecureMotorcycle Diamond and ART4 insurance-rated standards,” according to LITELOK.
