Damien Hirst motorbike helmet paint job

But we don't think Rich-Art has much to worry about...

Hirst lid

HE MIGHT be worth £215 million, and the grandaddy of the Young British Artists scene. But we have to say we don't think too much of Damien Hirst's lid-painting skillz.

Hirst – the artist best known for displaying dissected animals in formaldehyde – has turned his hand to helmet painting and gave the resulting multi-coloured lid to his former partner Maia Norman for her 56thbirthday.

The Californian fashion designer revealed the gift via social media. She’s the mother of Hirst’s three children, although the pair split up in 2012.

Norman, owner of fashion label Mother of Pearl, has spoken before of her love of speed, taking part in events like the Gumball 3000 Rally. She also enjoys motocross riding, even once saying she’d like to create a fragrance with a hint of two-stroke, so the lid might well get some serious use.

We think he'd have been better off making one like his crystal skull. Or just buy a sweet Arai and give it to Rich-Art...
