CFMoto has confirmed a new agreement with Brembo, which it calls more than just “a simple supplier arrangement”.

CFMoto has revealed a new strategic partnership with Brembo that’s set to directly impact mid-to-large models in the future, as well as overall technology innovation and its racing programmes.

The Chinese manufacturer says the collaboration is much more than “a simple supplier agreement”, and that the two companies will co-develop braking solutions for future CFMoto bikes. Additionally, the agreement will carry over to “brand development and talent cultivation”.

The partnership is not a surprise since a lot of motorcycles that feature premium spec sheets rely heavily on Brembo brakes. There are exceptions to this, and KTM is probably the most noteworthy manufacturer that uses other systems, including its in-house suspension and brake maker.

This was confirmed earlier this year, with KTM transitioning to WP brakes on many of its motorcycles, which are being developed in-house.

It’s also important to note that CFMoto (which currently races in Moto2 and Moto3) and Brembo (which supplies braking systems across MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3) are two big-name companies that already enjoy a partnership in Grand Prix racing.

Speaking about the new collaboration, Chen Zhiyong, Vice President of CFMoto, said:

“Establishing a long-term strategic partnership with Brembo will further strengthen CFMoto’s competitiveness and brand presence in global markets. Brembo is recognized as a global benchmark in braking technology, with extensive technical expertise and practical experience gained through top-level championships such as MotoGP. We look forward to working together to deliver safer, world-class riding experiences to CFMoto users around the world.”

Andrea Paganessi, Motorcycle GBU Chief Officer of Brembo, added:

“Our collaboration with CFMoto is an important step in strengthening Brembo’s presence in the global motorcycle market and in supporting our mission as a solutions provider. Through our technical expertise and high-performance solutions, we aim to be a trusted long-term partner for CFMoto and to contribute to the evolution of premium motorcycle standards.”

In terms of the development of future systems, CFMoto and Brembo will work together from the early stages of the R&D process. This means that braking systems can be better tailored towards different model types, therefore offering a better riding experience based on what model, and type of riding you’re interested in.
