Shark Aeron GP gains ‘Phase 2’ FIM homologation
Three helmets get the FIM seal of approval when it comes to racing for 2026.

The FIM has confirmed three new homologated helmets for racing, including two off-road lids and Shark’s Aeron GP Racing #2.
The FIM acts as the global governing body for racing, which means helmets you see used in MotoGP, WorldSBK, and MXGP must pass all the requirements.
The latest helmets to meet those standards are the Acerbis Airstrike and Airoh Aviator 3 Evo, both of which are off-road lids. For circuit racing, Shark’s Aeron GP Racing #2 has also gained the necessary FIM homologation for 2026.

The FIM’s Phase 2 (officially known as FRHPhe-02) was brought in to improve head protection and to set a new standard that goes above previous safety requirements. That includes the FRHPhe-01 standards used by the FIM.
All three models feature ECE 22-06 certification as standard, but to prove their FIM homologated status, they all include an FIM label on the chin strap.
Phase 2 standards mean helmets “have undergone an enhanced and more complete evaluation of their performance, in addition to being previously certified as compliant with an international standard”, according to the governing body.
As part of the homologation process, all three helmets underwent impact tests against oblique anvils, impact tests against hemispherical anvils, and a quick-removal cheek pad test.
