There’s no shortage of bike boots out there, but Italian outfit Eleveit reckons it’s cracked the touring code with its new Proton WP and Neutron WP models — two boots inspired, oddly enough, by the subatomic particles holding the universe together.

Yeah, we raised an eyebrow too, but stay with us.

The Proton and Neutron names aren’t just marketing fluff. Eleveit’s R&D team says they wanted to build boots that are "essential," strong, and built to go the distance, just like the protons and neutrons that quietly keep everything from collapsing into chaos. The boots follow suit: no daft gimmicks or unnecessary bells and whistles, just a solid, clean design made for riders who cover serious miles in all weathers.

Both boots get Eleveit’s E-Dry membrane, a waterproof and breathable lining that promises to keep your feet dry and fresh from dawn to dusk. It’s tested in proper lab conditions too, 80 minutes of flexing while underwater, to make sure it actually does what it says on the tin.

The Proton WP: Your Long-Haul Touring Companion

If you’re the kind of rider who thinks nothing of disappearing for a weekend (or a fortnight) on the bike, the Proton WP is aimed squarely at you. It’s a full-length touring boot that combines microfibre and technical fabric on the outside with soft, breathable linings on the inside. It’s designed to be tough, flexible, and all-day comfortable, exactly what you want when you're pounding out the miles.

You also get reinforcements at the heel, toe, and ankle, a gear-shift pad for added durability, and a three-component rubber sole for grip and stability, even when things get a bit sketchy underfoot. The closure system is simple and effective: a zip and Velcro combo that makes getting them on and off a breeze.

The Neutron WP: Lightweight, Low-Cut, Everyday Friendly

Prefer something shorter and more casual? The Neutron WP takes the same construction and features as its taller sibling but chops the height down to just above the ankle, making it ideal for commuters, weekend warriors, and anyone who wants touring boot performance without looking like they're headed for Dakar.

Instead of a zip, the Neutron goes with a dual Velcro closure, including a clever lace-style strap across the instep that lets you get the fit just right. And thanks to a perforated outer panel, heat management is a notch better, which is always a bonus in stop-start traffic or hotter climates.

Price and Availability

Both boots are available in black only, in unisex EU sizes 36 to 47. The Proton WP comes in at €189.99, while the shorter Neutron WP will set you back €179.99. Not bad for waterproof, well-specced touring boots from a brand that actually knows a thing or two about motorcycle footwear.

So, if you're after kit that won't complain about rain, won't leave your feet sweaty and tired, and doesn't cost the earth, Eleveit’s new boots might just be worth a closer look.

Just don’t ask them to explain quantum physics.

You can check out both the new boots on the official website.
