Clover Scout-5 WP: Touring jacket gets a technical overhaul

Clover’s new Scout-5 WP arrives as more than a mid-cycle refresh. It’s a proper step forward for the brand’s touring and adventure line-up, aimed at riders who spend long days in the saddle and need kit that can keep up with shifting weather, changing terrain and the occasional unplanned sit-down in the gravel.

The jacket has been reworked visually and structurally, giving it a sharper, more technical look without drifting into gimmick territory. Ballistic fabric now sits over the shoulders and elbows, reinforcing the areas most likely to take a hit while adding a subtly premium feel. The rest of the chassis sticks with Duratek-4, a material Clover has leaned on for years for its mix of durability and comfort.

A big part of the update is airflow. The Scout-5 WP gets a new direct-ventilation system designed to push cool air all the way to the rider, rather than just puffing the fabric out like a windsock. Clover has rethought the layering of its fixed AQUAZONE waterproof membrane, allowing air from the 3D mesh intake panels to reach the body more effectively. The exhaust ports at the back have also been reshaped to keep air moving and cut down on the familiar “ballooning” effect that some laminated-style touring jackets suffer from.

Safety has taken a step up, too, with the jacket moving from CE Class A to Class AA—an endorsement of its overall abrasion and impact performance. CE Level 1 armour comes fitted to the shoulders and elbows, using Clover’s Italian-made STRA-B protectors, and there’s a dedicated pocket ready for a Level 2 back protector such as the Back-Pro-Vent.

In short, the Scout-5 WP isn’t just a tidied-up version of what came before. It’s a more usable, more protective and more thoughtfully-vented touring jacket designed for real-world riding.
