CFMoto 800MT-ES arrives with electronic suspension and Bosch rider aids for £8,499
The new CFMoto 800MT-ES lands in the UK with electronic suspension, Bosch rider aids, heated seat and grips, radar technology and a four-year warranty, priced from £8,499 + OTR.
CFMoto launches new 800MT-ES, which lands in UK dealers priced from £8,499 and comes as standard with electronic suspension and advanced rider aids.
The headline feature is an electronically controlled Intelligent Suspension System (ISS), something that's normally reserved for adventure bikes in the £ 10,000-and-over price bracket. The system means continuous adjustments are made to the suspension setup as the road surface, riding conditions and bike load change.
Riders can also choose between four electronic preload settings, covering everything from solo riding through to fully loaded two-up touring, while three damping modes, Comfort, Standard and Sport, allow the bike's behaviour to be altered at the press of a button.
Backing up the suspension is a comprehensive Bosch electronics package based around a six-axis IMU. Motorcycle Stability Control brings together cornering ABS, traction control, Drag Torque Control and wheelie control, helping keep the bike stable whether under hard acceleration.
Mechanically, not much has changed, with power coming from CFMoto's familiar 799cc parallel twin, producing 91bhp and 75Nm of torque. It's paired with a six-speed gearbox, slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter, while four riding modes, Sport, Rain, Off-road and All-terrain, adjust the throttle response and electronic intervention to suit different conditions.
Touring equipment is another area where the 800MT-ES is well stocked. Standard equipment includes an 8-inch TFT display, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, heated grips, a heated seat and a steering damper. It also gets CFMoto's Radar Detection System, adding blind spot monitoring to the bike's already lengthy equipment list.
The chassis combines the electronic suspension with Michelin tyres, J.Juan brakes and Bosch cornering ABS, giving the bike a specification that's aimed at everything from commuting and weekend rides through to longer European trips.
Perhaps the biggest talking point is the price. At £8,499 + OTR, the 800MT-ES undercuts many established middleweight adventure bikes while offering equipment that would have been considered premium only a few years ago. Add in CFMoto's four-year warranty, and it looks like another aggressive move from the Chinese manufacturer as it continues to pile pressure on the more established names in the adventure bike market.
