Italian helmet brand Caberg has launched a new adventure-style lid called the Tanami Ranger, aimed at riders who split their time between tarmac and trails.

Built from fibreglass and certified to the latest ECE 22.06 safety standard, the new helmet is designed as an “on-off” style full-face, meaning it can be run with or without its peak depending on the type of riding you’re doing. Caberg says the Tanami Ranger is pitched at riders covering long distances and mixed terrain, while still wanting the practicality of a regular road touring helmet.

The shell comes in two sizes, with one covering XS to M and a larger shell handling L to XXL. Like most modern adventure lids, the ventilation system has been designed to be adaptable too, with removable magnetic vent covers that can be taken off when extra airflow is needed off-road or in hotter weather.

For added versatility, the helmet can also be used with motocross goggles, while the visor itself can either stay raised or be removed entirely. There’s also provision for a hydration system, which is becoming increasingly common on adventure and rally-style helmets.

Inside, the Tanami Ranger gets removable and washable liners made from breathable materials, alongside accommodation for riders wearing glasses. There’s also an internal drop-down sun visor and a double D-ring fastening setup.

Tech-wise, the standout feature is Caberg’s SOS Medical ID system, which uses NFC technology to store emergency contacts and medical information that can be accessed by first responders after a crash. The helmet is also prepped for the firm’s Pro Speak Evo comms kit, allowing rider-to-rider intercom use as well as smartphone connectivity for calls, music and navigation.

Visor spec includes a scratch-resistant outer shield and a Pinlock Max Vision 70 anti-fog insert, while Caberg claims the central visor locking system is designed to keep things secure at motorway speeds.

The Tanami Ranger will be offered in two graphic options. One uses muted greens, greys and orange tones aimed squarely at the adventure crowd, while the other borrows heavily from the red, white and blue colour schemes popularised by bikes like the Honda Africa Twin and BMW R 1300 GS.

Pricing is set at €399.99, although UK pricing has yet to be confirmed.
