MotoGP’s first official test of the 2026 season has concluded in Malaysia with some minor drama for Marc Marquez.

The reigning champion ended the day fourth-fastest and almost 0.4 seconds from the top after finishing day two in 15th and day one fastest overall. This came after a turn one crash for the Ducati rider, although this was only a minor off at the first corner.

Fastest of all on the final day of running in Sepang was 2025 Malaysian Grand Prix winner Alex Marquez, the Gresini rider within a tenth of the pole position record set by Francesco Bagnaia in 2024 with his 1:56.402.

Marco Bezzecchi was a late improver to go second for Aprilia, at a circuit where the RS-GP notoriously struggled in 2025.

Behind, Fabio Di Giannantonio was third-fastest for the second day in succession for the VR46 team, while behind Marquez in fourth was Bagnaia, 0.5 seconds behind the fastest time.

Franco Morbidelli was the fifth Ducati in the top six positions, the sixth Ducati of course not taking part in the test this week as Fermin Aldeguer recovers from his broken femur.

Raul Fernandez was the second-best Aprilia in seventh, and KTM put two bikes in the top-10 with Pedro Acosta eighth and Enea Bastianini 10th.

Honda were also in the top-10 with Joan Mir on the final day, although he was 0.4 seconds slower than his best time of day two that left him fastest on Wednesday.

Yamaha were back out on-track on Thursday after missing Wednesday with reliability concerns. Alex Rins was the fastest of the four remaining Yamaha riders (Fabio Quartararo is out with his broken finger and Andrea Dovizioso didn’t ride on Thursday) in 12th, 1.1 seconds behind Marquez at the top.

Between the two rookies, Toprak Razgatlioglu ended the test 17th, one place and 0.15 seconds ahead of Diogo Moreira in 18th.
