Five things to do on someone else's dirt bike

Like to ride on and off-road but cant afford two bikes? maybe you've never ridden a bike before? want something to do with the kids? We've found five things to do this weekend on someone else's dirt bike, no garage, insurance or in some cases even a licence needed.

Yamaha Off-Road Experience - Sussex/Hampshire/West Midlands

Want to ride a full size motocross track on a range of bikes from 250 enduros to 450 motocrossers? No bike licence or experience necessary, got the family in tow? Turn up to Golding Barn Raceway in Sussex (or any of the other 3 locations in the UK) and start riding. Build on your experience or learn to ride a bike from scratch, by the end of the day you could be getting air. Expect to pay £185. You will get fuel, kit, bike hire, all the instruction you could want and the odd cup of Coffee. Any ages or experience levels can ride.

Wheeldon Off-Road Centre - Devon

Take a trip with the family to this picturesque farm in Devon, Stay the night in one of their quaint stone cottages. The boy can ride the undercover beginners track whilst you put in the laps on a range of enduro and motocross bikes around the UK's only indoor motocross track. There’s a viewing gallery and on-site instructors to help the family get the best from their time at the farm. Wheeldon is also situated right in the middle of some of Devons best Greenlanes where you can also take a organised tour. Prices start from £125

MCIA 'try-outs' - Northumberland

Based in Northampton, pay a £15 fee and take half a day session riding dirt-bikes at the Northumberland- based Brake Hill Farm. Organised by the Motorcycle Industry Association and now in its second year running, anyone is welcome to ride a bike you just need to register for one of the limited 400 spaces available.

Greenlaning - All over the UK

Pick an adventure bike from your local dealer and book a test ride. Grab an Ordnance Survey Landranger map and head off to the local byways. You’ll need a bike licence and some basic map reading skills to find where the 'hidden' routes are. The countryside’s your oyster.
