TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad have ticked off a major milestone in their sub-500cc partnership, confirming that production has now passed the 200,000-unit mark.

The achievement lands just as manufacturing begins for the new BMW F 450 GS at TVS’s Hosur facility, the very bike shown at EICMA 2025.

The Indo-German alliance kicked off back in 2013, with the production of BMW’s G310 range. Since then, it has quietly become one of the most successful collaborations in the A2 segment. A decade on, TVS and BMW are building bikes for over 100 markets, with the G 310 range now well established as one of BMW Motorrad’s global volume pillars, especially in Asia.

KN Radhakrishnan, Director and CEO at TVS Motor Company, said the partnership’s success comes down to engineering alignment and shared priorities:

“Our engineering synergy and shared values of innovation and quality have formed the foundation of every achievement … Today, as we celebrate the 200,000-unit milestone, we also mark the dawn of a new era with the rollout of [the new] BMW F450 GS.”

The 450 looks set to lead the next wave of co-developed products, with TVS positioning it as proof of its high-end manufacturing capability rather than just a step up in displacement.

Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW Motorrad, echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership “a bold alliance” that has grown into a genuine commercial backbone:

“The BMW G310 R, G310 GS and G310 RR enjoy unrivalled popularity worldwide and have become a key pillar of BMW Motorrad’s global growth. The rollout of the new BMW F450 GS marks the next exciting chapter in our journey together.”

The press release from TVS goes on to say that the two companies are already working on the next phase, featuring new platforms and future-ready tech. It claims that R&D efforts are already pointed at urban mobility and premium small-capacity motorcycles, suggesting there’s more to come beyond the 450 GS. What is likely the case is a similar story as the G310 models, with a naked and sports bike waiting in the wings. It could also mean the engine could power a premium-sized maxi-scooter, while a road-focused sports tourer - along the lines of the F900 XR - would also be an enticing and sensible option.
