Peter Hickman is looking to pick up where he left off on the Mountain Course back in 2019 after confirming his entry for the 2022 Isle of Man TT with FHO Racing BMW as part of a headline road racing programme to dovetail with his commitments in the 2022 British Superbike Championship (BSB).

Having made the transition from the departing Smiths Racing to its successor FHO Racing for 2021, fan favourite Hickman emerged one of the standout performers this year, taking two victories at Cadwell Park en route to fifth in the overall standings.

Now, after two years without a road racing programme due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hickman has  confirmed he will compete in FHO colours aboard the BMW M 1000 RR in his quest to complete the quadruple crown of 2022 Isle of Man TT, North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix and Macau Grand Prix.

“After three years away, I’m delighted to be heading back to the International road races next year and equally delighted to be doing so with FHO Racing," he said

"Having re-signed with the team in the British Championship, after a successful season this year, it’s great to be contesting the likes of the TT and NW200 with them too and I can’t wait.

"I had some great times at the road races with the S 1000 RR and with the way it performed on the short circuits this year, I’m excited to see what we can do with the M 1000RR on the roads; I’m confident we’ll turn a few heads!"

While Synetiq TAS Racing is the factory BMW Motorrad set-up in BSB, FHO Racing will be the works representative on the road, a privilege team owner Faye Ho is keen to repay with her star rider staying on board.

“It’s a real honour for FHO Racing to be chosen by BMW Motorrad as their official team at the 2022 International road races especially as we’ve only been in existence for a year!

"It shows the progress and impression we’ve made, both on and off the track, and returning to the roads in 2022 with Peter and Brian is very exciting for everyone connected with the team.”

"Peter’s record speaks for itself whilst Brian’s results have continually improved and we’re quietly confident both riders will excel next season.

"On a personal note, the road races are very important to me and having attended the likes of the TT and, obviously, Macau on a regular basis, I’m thrilled to be attending them in 2022 with the team and in an official capacity."

After several years honing his short circuit skills in BSB, Louth racer Hickman made the transition to road racing ahead of his TT debut in 2014, going on to take his first win in the Superstock class in 2018.

Since then he has firmly established himself as the dominant force in road racing, landing five TT wins across 2018 and 2019, while he currently holds the record for the fastest lap around the Snaefell Mountain Course of 135.452mph on a Smiths Racing BMW S 1000 RR.

He will be paired with new team-mate Ryan Vickers for the 2022 BSB season.

In addition to Hickman, FHO Racing also confirmed Irishman Brian McCormack - who contested the full BSB season in 2021 - will ride a Superstock-specification BMW M 1000 RR in all four road racing events, plus a season campaign National Superstock Championship.
