Jorge Lorenzo - Repsol Honda

Jorge Lorenzo will return to the Repsol Honda team for this weekend’s British MotoGP at Silverstone for his first MotoGP event since injuring himself in June.

The Spaniard hurt his back in a high-speed crash at Assen, forcing him to miss four rounds despite the protracted summer break in between.

Despite convalescing far away from the paddock, the three-time MotoGP World Champion has nonetheless not deviated far from the headlines after it emerged he has been scoping out potential new deals for the 2020 season in absentia – notably Pramac Ducati and Petronas SRT Yamaha.

Seemingly a clear indication he doesn’t see a future with the title-winning Repsol Honda team alongside Marc Marquez, Lorenzo is nonetheless focusing his immediate attentions on the job in hand at Silverstone.

What did Jorge Lorenzo say?

“It is very good to be back with the Repsol Honda Team, it has been a long time since Assen. I would have liked to have been back sooner, but the nature of the injury meant I had to take my time.

“While away from the track, I have been working hard to be as ready as possible for Silverstone but I know it will take some time to get back up to speed.

“I am pleased and ready to be back with the team so we can keep improving and get the results we know we can achieve.”

If all goes to plan, this weekend’s British MotoGP will be Lorenzo’s first start since THIS calamitous Catalunya MotoGP in which he fell and skittled out Andrea Dovizioso, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales from the race.
