Alex Rins' MotoGP bike catches fire in the Sepang pit lane

Alex Rins’ Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP bike has caught fire in the pit lane during the build-up to the Malaysian GP.

The bike was being warmed up by mechanics when the fire started from what is believed to be fuel overflow hitting the hot exhaust.

The fire quickly spread and, as pictures on social media confirm, the bike looks to be seriously damaged in the incident. Suzuki mechanics and the pit lane marshals were able to bring the fire under control and eventually put it out.

Thankfully nobody was injured in the incident and Suzuki should have enough spares to ensure the fire doesn’t hamper the team’s chances at this weekend Malaysian GP.
