BSB: GSE Racing officially announce 2009 squad

James Ellsion and Leon Camier line up in new Yamaha-backed GSE team

IT'S BEEN officially confirmed by GSE racing that the BSB title-winning team will be running James Ellison and Leon Camier in the domestic series in 2009 - here's the official statement in full:

Current champions GSE Racing will look to secure a record fifth British Superbike title in 2009 with riders James Ellison and Leon Camier aboard the all new Yamaha YZF-R1.

Leon joined GSE Racing for the 2008 season, scoring a total of three wins and a further five podium places on his way to 5th in the championship. Leon is looking forward to challenging for the series crown in 2009 as the team embarks on an exciting new partnership with Yamaha Motor UK.

“I’m delighted to be staying with GSE Racing for 2009; having already spent a season working so well together we can focus on building on our results from this year and fighting for the title right from the start. The new partnership with Yamaha signals an exciting new era for GSE Racing and one that I am really pleased to be a part of. Now I can’t wait to begin testing the YZF-R1!”

Former MotoGP rider and winner of the British Superbike Cup on a Yamaha in 2004, James joins GSE Racing from Honda with whom he finished 7th in this year’s British Superbike Championship.

“To be riding for the most successful team in the paddock represents a fantastic opportunity for me; I’m ecstatic. I came close to signing with the team in 2005 and kept in contact with Colin Wright ever since just in case another chance came up and now finally, here I am! I’m really looking forward to riding a Yamaha once again and hopefully repeating the success I had with them back in 2004.”

Further details with regards to GSE Racing’s sponsors for 2009 will be announced in due course.
