MT-07 gets the touring treatment by Givi

Full luggage system opens new markets for the popular middleweight

THE city-slicking Yamaha MT-07 won't be many bikers first choice for long-distance touring but this new luggage system from Givi might just change all that.

The Italian firm has developed a top box, side cases and tank bag specifically for the Yamaha's top-selling naked middleweight, taking its potential luggage capacity to nearly 150 litres.

In this photo, the MT-07 features Givi's V47 top box (£229) with V35 side cases (£323.80) as well as the XS306 tank bag (£115.53), which is expandable to up to 25 litres. It's hard to believe that buried under this bundle of luggage lurks the lean MT-07.

Givi has also developed a black windscreen for greater comfort, costing £89.49. To be fair, it's unlikely to spare your neck from long hours of buffeting at motorway speeds but at least Givi has avoid butchering the bike's moody good looks. There are also a set of handguards for £102.30.

UK bikers are not struggling to find reasons to buy the MT-07 (it already topped sales charts in its category for both January and March this year) but Givi's touring kit certainly opens doors to new markets. Essentially Givi's kit transforms the MT-07 into a highly-affordable middleweight tourer.

For example, a new MT-07 (£5,350) with a full Givi touring kit (around £1,000, depending on options) somehow manages to undercut Suzuki's new DL650 V-Strom (£6,999) with enough spare change for a continental touring holiday.
