For 2022 the all-new YZ125 gets a completely redesigned higher performance engine along with a seriously upgraded chassis and a slimmer and more radical-looking body to make this the most competitive YZ125 ever.

Delivering a significantly higher power output along with better useability – and featuring sharper handling, stronger braking and improved ergonomics – the new YZ125 takes lessons learned by the factory Yamaha MXGP and MX2 team and applies them to its production motorcycles.

The engine in the 2022 YZ125 is an all-new, 2-stroke unit that develops significantly higher power in the mid to high rpm range than the previous version. Changing almost every major internal component, the engine also features a new cylinder head, cylinder and piston. The combustion chamber has been altered, as well as a shorter exhaust port and revised cylinder porting which are all claimed to give a significant improvement in combustion efficiency.

A new TPVS has been developed, and is backed up by a Keihin PWK 38.1mm carburettor that is equipped with a solenoid controlled power jet that gives an instant hit of power when needed.

Yamaha YZ125 Monster Energy Edition

Launching at the same time as the YZ125 is the race-ready Monster Energy Edition of the bike. It features all of the updates and changes of the stock YZ125 but comes fully kitted out with Monster Energy decals already applied.
