Isle of Man TT racer Maria Costello has been newly-appointed as a motorcycle consignor at Iconic Auctioneers.

Costello joins the auction house as part of a specialised team that will support the company’s growing schedule in 2026. Costello brings over 30 years of experience as a road racer and high-profile member within the industry, where she’s acted as a mentor and advocate for women in motorsport.

Costello is also known for her role as a TV presenter and speaker, but she’s most famous for becoming the first female racer to podium at the TT in 2005.

Costello became the fastest woman ever to lap the TT course in 2004, setting an average speed of 114.73mph. That record stood for five years before being broken by Jenny Tinmouth. However, Costello is still the only woman to have held the female lap record at the TT, North West 200, and the Ulster Grand Prix.

Speaking about Costello’s appointment, Mark Bryan, Motorcycle Manager at Iconic Auctioneers, said:

“Maria is hugely respected across every corner of the motorcycle world. Her experience as a racer, her knowledge of classic and modern machines and her reputation for straight talking advice make her a perfect fit for Iconic Auctioneers. She understands what matters to owners and collectors, and she will be a real asset to anyone considering selling a motorcycle with us.”

In 2009, Costello was awarded an MBE thanks to her services to motorcycling, and in 2019 she became the first female President of the TT Riders Association Charity.

Costello also spoke about her new role, saying:

“Motorcycles are about far more than the machines themselves. They carry history, stories and personal meaning. Iconic Auctioneers shares that understanding and makes the process clear and approachable. I am looking forward to working with owners and collectors and helping great motorcycles find their next custodians.”
