This limited edition Petronas Yamaha YZF-R1 is a replica of the MotoGP bike used by world champions Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli in 2020.

Not to be mistaken with Valentino Rossi who raced with the number 46 on the front of his bike throughout his career, and with Petronas Yamaha in 2021, this bike is number 13 and is one of 46 ever produced to celebrate the 46-year partnership between Petronas and Yamaha.

The pairing had been a fruitful one that generated plenty of MotoGP success, however, a split eventually took place which led to RNF becoming the main sponsor as the Razlan Razali-owned satellite team moved to Aprilia machinery, Petronas and Yamaha enjoyed 46 years together at the highest level of racing.

Razali’s personal sponsor, RNF Racing, took over from Petronas when it left MotoGP for two seasons (2022, 2023) before being replaced by Trackhouse Racing for the current 2024 season.

This rare Petronas Yamaha YZF-R1 is being presented by Iconic Auctioneers and will be available to bid on at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham on 10 November.

It is a completely new bike with zero miles on the clock and was built by Yamaha Europe and Yamaha Austria Racing Team (YART), who races in the Endurance World Championship.

Of the 46 bikes ever produced, four of them made their way to the UK and some of the features include very high specifications, such as Ohlins FGRT 219 front forks and Ohlins TTX rear shock.

There are numerous factory highlights including a full carbon fairing kit with MotoGP winglets, an Akrapovic exhaust, Marchesini forged wheels, factory wiring harness, Brembo brake calipers, racing footrests with quick shift system and Michelin racing slicks.

The 2020 model has only been showcased in a showroom previously and is unregistered.
