BMW has denied it has any plans to build a S600RR supersports machine, despite the success of the S1000RR – but the evidence is mounting that in fact that's exactly what it's going to do.
The firm was confronted about the idea after the domain name “www.s600rr.de” was discovered to be registered to BMW. But if you dig deeper there's much more evidence. Not only is “s600rr.de” registered to BMW, but “s600rr.com” is registered to Ascio Technologies, which holds the names for a whole gamut of other official BMW sites including “www.bmw.com” and “www.s1000rr.com”.
Beyond that, if there's no S600RR in the pipeline, why, in 2008, did BMW also register the name “S600RR” as a trademark in America, at the same time as registering “S1000RR”?
