Indian Motorcycle Signature Series announced – probably won't be coming to the UK... for now
Indian Motorcycle has lifted the covers off a new range of factory-custom Signature Series bikes, but despite looking like perfect showroom stars, they look likely to be reserved for North America.
Indian Motorcycle has unveiled a trio of factory-custom Signature Series models, and while they might be some of the best-looking bikes to wear the famous headdress logo in recent years, there's a catch. You can't buy them in the UK or Europe.
The new Signature Series range takes three of Indian's existing grand American tourers and gives them the sort of paint and trim treatment that would normally be the preserve of a custom builder. The bikes look every bit the premium factory specials, but for now they're exclusively heading to dealerships in the United States and Canada.
Leading the line-up is the Challenger Elite, which draws inspiration from Gene "Alabama Flash" Walker, the rider who set an Indian land speed record of more than 116mph back in 1920. The bike gets a striking tri-tone paint scheme with hand-finished detailing, blacked-out finishes, PowerBand Audio Plus speakers and Indian's 112ci PowerPlus V-twin producing a claimed 126bhp and 133lb ft of torque.
Joining it is the Pursuit Elite, which follows a similar recipe but packages it into Indian's luxury touring platform. It receives the same 112ci engine upgrade, premium audio system and individually numbered production plaque, alongside an intricate paint finish inspired by the brand's heritage and military roots.
The final bike is the Chieftain Elite, based around the company's Thunderstroke-powered bagger. It swaps outright performance for old-school V-twin character but receives the same high-end cosmetic treatment, complete with hand-painted details, exclusive badging and premium trim throughout.
Production numbers for all three bikes are low, adding to the exclusivity. Just 350 Challenger Elites, 250 Pursuit Elites and 350 Chieftain Elites will be built worldwide. Unfortunately, worldwide doesn't seem to currently include the UK.
Indian has confirmed that the Signature Series range is intended for North American markets only, meaning UK and European riders will have to admire them from afar unless the company decides to broaden availability later down the line.
Whether that happens in the future remains to be seen, but if the reaction to these bikes is anything to go by, there would certainly be no shortage of interested buyers if they ever made the trip across the pond.
