Honda is moving forward with its large-capacity electric motorcycle range, as it confirms that its EV Fun Concept will be getting a full reveal on September 2.

The bike was first shown to the world at EICMA last year. It shared the stage with another battery-powered bike, the EV Urban Concept, although it was Honda’s refreshingly wild V3 concept that stole all the limelight - and the headlines!

September 2, though, will be the new EV Fun’s time in the spotlight, and Honda has released the first video showing the bike in motion. It’s heavily camouflaged and shot from angles that give little away about the bike. It seems, though, quite close to the original concept we saw in Milan, with the single-sided swingarm, thin LED headlight and svelte bodywork all present and correct. We also get to see the bike’s TFT dash booting up - so if watching ‘HONDA’ graphics slide across a Thin Film Transistor is your bag, this video is for you.

What we don’t know about the bike, but what should be confirmed on September 2, is any hard and fast specs for the bike. At launch, Honda stated the EV Fun would be comparable “mid-sized internal combustion engine”, making us think it will be sitting in the 500 to 800cc segment. That’s a pretty wide window the bike could land in, and should mean it has anything between 47 and 75bhp - but lots more torque, obviously.

It was also revealed that it would allow for CCS2 quick charging, which is the same standard charger used for electric cars. That should mean very speedy charging, with some Honda four-wheelers able to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 20 minutes. How fast the EV Fun will be able to juice up remains to be seen. About the only piece of info Honda did give away at EICMA was the “cruising range” which is stated to be over 60 miles.

While we wait for September 2 to come around, we’ll just hope that the V3 concept is getting worked on as much as Honda’s new electric models, because when that thing goes live, we’re pretty sure it’ll break the internet.
