When it comes to motorcycle brands performing at a very high level in the UK, Honda and BMW have been at the forefront of that over the last few years.

And September 2026 was no different, with BMW’s popular R1300 GS regaining top spot in the adventure sales category.

That same segment saw Honda’s CB1000GT take top honours in July and August, selling 141 and 164 units, respectively.

In June 2026, the R1300 GS topped the category with 168 units sold, according to statistics provided by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA), however, that number was comprehensively beaten in September.

201 units were sold last month, which is the first time any model has sold over 200 motorcycles in the adventure category since March, which also happened to be the R1300 GS with 309 units.

Aside from July and August, BMW has largely dominated the adventure category in 2026, while its S1000 RR also made an appearance as the best-selling sportbike in September.

Named ‘Road Sport’ by the MCIA, the segment has seen various makes and models enjoy success throughout the year, but in September, the S1000 RR sold a chart-topping 66 units.

Elsewhere, Honda continued to perform well throughout different categories, with the CB125F and CB1000F finding success at the head of the naked and modern classic fields.

In terms of the ‘Custom’ segment, Royal Enfield’s versatile Super Meteor 650 took the spoils with 58 units sold.

After a relatively quiet few months for the touring category, BMW’s R1300 RT helped improve sales numbers at the top of the chart, with 85 units sold.
