Triumph is set to expand on its relationship with James Bond, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary.

As well as launching a special edition version of one of its existing models, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 that was used in the most recent Bond film, No Time To Die, has been auctioned.

The motorcycle was estimated between £20,000 and £30,000, but it far exceeded such an estimation. Instead, it sold for £138,600, complete with a large Triumph logo on the fuel tank and knobbies.

All £138,600 raised by Triumph from the auction, hosted by Christie's, will be donated to Severn Hospice.

The text below is from the original version of this article, from 27 September 2022, before the Scrambler 1200 had been auctioned.

Triumph describes the 60th anniversary of James Bond as an “iconic moment in time,” and has made two announcements regarding the film series.

It has announced that a special edition motorcycle will be launched on 4 October 2022 as part of the 60th anniversary James Bond celebrations.

There is almost no certain indication of what this motorcycle might be, what its specs will be, or even what base Triumph model it will be derived from.

However, if you take a look at the photo Triumph published with their article announcing the special edition motorcycle, it is clear to see it is the Speed Triple 1200 RR

How exactly the Bond edition will differ from the standard bike of course remains to be seen.

It would seem reasonable to expect a new paint job, perhaps a nicely embroidered seat, and some 007 decals, or something along those lines.

Perhaps there might also be some Bond graphics inscribed into the bike in some areas, and since the bike will be limited to a production run of 60 models, there is likely to be an identifier of which number of the 60 each individual bike is.

Certainly, it is reason to be excited for next week, Tuesday to be exact.
