NO BMW UK machines are affected in a recall notice issued by BMW USA regarding the fuel system on the company's 2009 and 2010 K1300GT and K1300S, a company spokesman has confirmed to Visordown.
BMW USA have released a statement saying poor fuel quality may result in small deposits in the bike's throttle bodies, which in turn can cause engine problems at low revs. The problem can cause the motor to stutter or stall (sounds just like the ill-fated 2005 K1200S launch). It's reported the problem was discovered during quality control procedures.
An engine management software update, provided free of charge from BMW, should solve the problem.
The recall notice affects 936 K1300S bikes produced between Sept. 11, 2008 and Oct. 13, 2009, and 1,083 K1300GT models produced between Oct. 17, 2008 and Nov. 19, 2009. All USA models, not UK.
