KTM issues yet another multi-model recall

KTM says a select few 390 models will need a replacement of the side stand spring, if the system was constructed using forged materials.

KTM has confirmed four 2025-26 models, all of which are from the company’s 390 range, are being recalled if they were built with a forged side stand spring.

The four models affected include the 390 Adventure R and X models, as well as the Enduro R and SMC R. According to KTM, “quality inspections have determined that engine vibrations may cause the side stand spring to break”.

It goes on to say that the issue is limited “to forged side stands and does not affect other side stand types”. Only a few faulty systems have been detected by the Austrian firm so far. However, it is advising customers to have the side stand spring replaced as soon as possible.

Customers will have a rubber protection fitted when they take their motorcycle to an authorised KTM dealer. As part of a press release, KTM says a new side stand sensor retaining plate “will also be installed during the workshop visit”. The new retaining plate will adjust the trigger range of the side stand switch.

As is standard procedure with a recall, customers will be notified by letter, where they will then be asked by KTM to contact an authorised dealer and arrange an appointment for the replacement. The update will be done free of charge.

If you want to check for yourself whether your bike is affected by this issue, you can do so by heading over to the Service page on the official KTM website.

This is the third recall KTM has issued since the start of November, and the second since the start of December. On that occasion, it was the engine control unit (ECU) which needed to be updated.

But that’s not the most surprising part of all this, as the four models mentioned above were also part of that ECU recall. There was also a fifth model that was part of the ECU recall, which was KTM’s 390 Duke.
