Ex-Phillip McCallen and Simon Crafar Honda among the stars of upcoming auction
A wide selection of iconic race bikes, including an ex-Phillip McCallen and Simon Crafar Honda VFR750R, are heading to auction in the UK this summer.

Iconic Auctioneers is set to welcome a plethora of famous race bikes to its summer auction in London, including a Castrol-themed Honda VFR750R Type RC30.
No, this is not the same VFR750R RC30 that was ridden by Joey Dunlop, which is also heading to the same auction on Saturday, July 18, at the Kempton Park racecourse. Instead, it’s a 1992 machine that was raced by Simon Crafer in the British championship that same year, before Phillip McCallen competed on it at short circuit events in 1993.
Heading to auction with an estimate of £50,000-£70,000, the bike’s engine was fully tuned by Tony Scott, who has decades worth of experience tuning race bikes. It also comes with flat-sided kit carburettors and Ohlins front forks.

An ex-works Kawasaki GPX750R is also going up for auction, which was victorious in the WorldSBK championship in 1988 at the Hungarian round. The bike was an official entry from the Kawasaki France-run team, which is finished in a bright red colourway, and is in running order.
Sticking with Kawasaki, a 1989 ZXR-7 TTF1 race bike from the 1989 World Endurance Championship will also be available. The bike achieved results of seventh at Le Mans, fourth at Spa, and 15th at the Bol d’Or.
This model comes with an estimate of £8,000–£10,000, which is the same figure quoted for the Kawasaki GPX750R.

Mark Bryan, Motorcycle Specialist at Iconic Auctioneers, said this about the upcoming auction:
“This is exactly the calibre and variety we wanted for our first motorcycle sale at Kempton Park. The ex-Joey Dunlop RC30 is a very special example, but what makes this line-up so appealing is the depth of choice, from legendary Japanese superbikes to British and Italian classics. It reflects what Iconic Auctioneers stands for: carefully selected machines with appeal at every level of the collector market.”
For those of you interested in something even more ‘old-school’, the auction will include a 1958 Moto Morini 175 Corsa, and a 1955 MV Agusta 175 CSS Squalo, which is formerly part of the Robert White Collection.
You can see the full line-up of motorcycles heading to Iconic Auctioneers’ London Motorcycle Sale on the official website.
