Dainese Overyond XT GTX features extendable shin protection
Dainese's new Overyond XT GTX boots feature an adjustable shin protector that can be extended for off-road riding and lowered for commuting and everyday road use.

Adventure boots are ten a penny these days, but Dainese reckons it has found a way to make one pair work both on and off the road, and the trick lies in an extendable shin protector.

The new Overyond XT GTX boots feature an adjustable shin guard that can be raised or lowered depending on where you're riding. Heading off-road and expecting loose surfaces or flying debris and branches? Extend it for extra coverage. Sticking to the tarmac and want something a little less bulky? Slide it back down again.
The idea is to give riders the protection of a more serious off-road boot without forcing them to live with the compromises that usually come with a pair during everyday riding.

Elsewhere, the Overyond XT GTX is built around a leather upper backed up by a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane, which should make it just as happy dealing with a wet winter commute as a summer trail ride. Underneath sits a chunky Groundtrax sole designed to offer grip on the pegs while remaining comfortable enough for walking once the bike is parked.
Protection comes from reinforced sections around the ankle, toe and heel, while a gearshift pad helps fend off the inevitable scuffs from repeated upshifts. Fastening is handled by a combination of buckles and Velcro closures, allowing riders to fine-tune the fit, and the boots are available in either black or olive in sizes 38 to 48.
The Dainese Overyond XT GTX boots are CE Category II certified and land with a price tag of £379.99. You can find out more on the official website.
