BBM Motorcycles has just revealed the new Hiro streetfighter, which arrives with some potentially game-changing features for the electric motorcycle scene.

When we think of electric bikes, and pretty much all EVs, charge times will come to most people’s minds as a potential stumbling block.

But BBM claims its new Hiro model can be charged to at least 80 per cent in just 15 minutes, whether you’re at home, in the office or at any EV charging station.

If you think about it, stopping for a fuel break, or for a quick stop for a coffee and a pastry, won’t be much faster than that.

The particularly quick charge time is achieved through the Hiro’s 12.96kWh battery, while the Spanish electric start-up claims the bike produces 94 hp (around 92.7 bhp), 110 Ib-ft of torque, and a range of 220km (137 miles) in the city.

The Hiro uses DC Fast Charging, which puts it in a very small group of motorcycles on the market that includes such compatibility.

What also makes this bike interesting is its construction, with its body panels made from plant-based materials. BBM claims the bodywork can “deliver carbon performance levels, superior damping, and a lower CO2 footprint”.

Riders can also manage the bike’s torque management through its traction control system. The Hiro uses Brembo brakes both front and rear, comes with ABS and adjustable regenerative braking, according to BBM. The company also claims that all ‘support systems’ can be disabled.

In terms of price and availability, customers can already register their interest, which will give them access to when reservation slots are available. A €100 (or £87) deposit will secure your spot, where you can begin designing your own Hiro. Bikes are then expected to arrive in July 2026, with a starting price of €16,900 (roughly £14,750).

So, it’s got fast charging with decent range, and lots of power and torque - but it’s not exactly what you’d call cheap!
