Set to rival Royal Enfield’s updated Himalayan 450, BMW’s new F450 GS has been spotted testing in India, and more details of the bike have emerged as a consequence.

As is so often the case with a new bike under wraps, a test mule finds its way onto the public roads and the F450 GS is no different as it was seen doing two things, the first of which was wearing a heavy dose of camo across its fairing, while also riding on the roads of India.

New details about the bike include alloy wheels being used as opposed to the spoked ones that were found on the concept model. It’s a shame to see, as the spoked items looked great, and while they may find their way onto the model at some point, cast wheels are a much cheaper option for what is expected to be a fairly budget bike.

Two variants of the F450 GS are also expected, which could mean a more road-focused option alongside an off-road version. Kerb weight for the bike is expected to be around 175kg.

With the brand’s G310 GS heading for the exit door after being discontinued earlier this year, the F450 GS will become the brand’s new entry-level adventure motorcycle, followed by the F800/900, which will also be reflected in the price when BMW confirms how much the new bike costs.

Its 450cc twin-cylinder power unit will deliver a claimed 48bhp while it will also get a tubular steel trellis chassis, and it will run enduro-spec inverted forks and shocks.

Revealed as a concept at EICMA last November, it’s likely we can expect the new small-capacity F450 GS to feature extensive rider modes options, which seems to be customary with BMW motorcycles, traction control, and potentially ABS. Mission control will come via the 6.5-inch TFT display.

From the pictures provided by Acko Drive it’s difficult to spot any other major details about the new bike that will be unveiled later this year.
