Triumph has launched a new custom bike building competition called Triumph Originals, with eight teams from the UK, USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, France, Italy and Thailand competing alongside local builders.

At its culmination, the build-off is hoped to find the ‘ultimate expression of British originality’, with the bikes being judged on five different criteria. To win the top prize, the bike must tick the boxes of Iconic Style, Creativity & Innovation, British Originality, and Craftsmanship, with the final (and most important tick being) The Ride. Once the bikes have been judged by the expert panel, it’ll be down to the public to vote on the overall winner, with the competition ending in July this summer.

With the brief for the competition being anything from within Triumph’s Bonneville range, the teams have a huge amount of bikes to choose from. Not only is Triumph’s Bonneville range one of the longest continually running bike models in the world, it’s also one of the biggest. Builders will be able to use the T100, T120, T120 Black, Scrambler 900, Scrambler 1200 X and XE, Bobber, Speedmaster, and Speed Twin 900 and Speed Twin 1200. That means we could see anything from the obligatory cafe racer on the Speed Twin 900 or 1200, a laid-back cruiser makeover on the Bobber or a hardcore off-road on the Scrambler 1200 platform.

Speaking about the new competition, Nick Bloor, CEO, said:

The Triumph Bonneville has been a symbol of individuality and originality for decades, appearing in films, music videos, and fashion campaigns. We’ve seen it in recent Hollywood films and advertising campaigns for luxury brands, and now, through Triumph Originals 2025, we want to see how our Bonnevilles and British style inspire today’s best custom builders.

“We’ve invited eight custom builders from around the world to interpret the essence of British originality, drawing inspiration from a brand that has shaped custom culture for over a century. Through this contest, we aim to highlight the ongoing significance of custom culture within the motorcycle industry and provide a platform for creative and technical innovation.”

More information on the competition can be found on the official website.
