Toprak Razgatlioglu involved in unusual training incident

Toprak Razgatlioglu’s off-season training has not quite gone to plan, as the three-time Superbike world champion was involved in an on-track incident with Kenan Sofuoglu’s son.

Toprak Razgatlioglu, who is managed by former five-time World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu, has been caught up in an unusual, yet seemingly harmless training incident with his son, Zayn Sofuoglu.

We say that because the young star was seemingly unhurt despite suffering a nasty-looking highside when contact was made with Razgatlioglu. Sofuoglu attempted to pass the three-time Superbike World Champion on his inside, while riding at their local track in Turkey.

Razgatlioglu seemed to clip Sofuoglu’s left handlebar but immediately went over to check on the youngster, who was then helped to his feet by the ex-superbike rider.

Just six years of age, Sofuoglu has gained notoriety for his exploits on two and four wheels in recent years, and already has over 5 million Instagram followers.

In 2024 he reportedly reached a top speed of over 200mph while driving a Lamborghini. During that same year, Sofuoglu also won the Turkish 50cc Supermoto Championship, which was his first title win in racing.

For Razgatlioglu, 2026 will be a year of new beginnings as he leaves WorldSBK as the two-time reigning champion with BMW. The 2026 MotoGP rookie will now line-up alongside Jack Miller at the Prima Pramac Yamaha team, after signing a two-year deal.

Razgatlioglu has been a busy man in recent weeks, which includes making an unlikely appearance on the O Ses Turkiye show, which is the country’s version of The Voice.

MotoGP fans will get to see Razgatlioglu ride his M1 for the first time in 2026 at this month’s Sepang Shakedown test in Malaysia. Razgatlioglu and the full line-up of MotoGP riders will then take part in the official pre-season test at the Sepang International Circuit, in February.
