Royal Enfield returns to Goodwood Festival with four striking custom builds

Royal Enfield has confirmed it will showcase four custom builds, all of which are based on the Shotgun 650, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which begins today, (July 10) and runs until July 13.

RE will showcase the four hand picked machines that are born from its ‘Custom World’ initiative, with three of the four motorcycles set to be ridden by the bike’s builders themselves.

Each Shotgun 650 features a unique style, including the 'Sawn Off Shotgun' by Medaza Cycles edition, which has been self-labelled as a 'sports-chopper'. The bike features silver finishes along the tank, rear seat and its dual-pipe exhaust system.

The ‘Sawn Off Shotgun’ edition is also the exclusive new build out of the four-strong line-up, and is the bike that is receiving its official launch at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The other three, all of which will join the ‘Sawn Off Shotgun’ in taking to the famous course, include the Sure Shot's 'Samurai', ICON Motorsport's 'Always Something', and 'The Kingsman' from Kingston Custom.

The Sure Shot ‘Samurai’ edition can be seen below as it features cruiser-style curved handlebars, and is complete with no pillion seat.

My personal favourite, which is the ICON Motorsport’s ‘Always Something’ model, gets a racy cafe racer appearance with RE’s iconic R symbol layered across the tank, as well as the inclusion of white stars on a blue belly pan, giving it an American feel.

Finally, there’s the ‘Kingsman’ edition, which is a machine that symbolises the Goodwood Festival of Speed, thanks to its unique design and retro flavour. It also looks like something you would find in ‘The World’s Fastest Indian’ movie, which featured Anthony Hopkins as the lead actor.
