WorldSBK Magny-Cours Race 2 Results | Rampant Razgatlioglu ticks off hat-trick

Toprak Razgatlioglu disarms Jonathan Rea in all three WorldSBK races at Magny-Cours to complete the first hat-trick of his young career

Toprak Razgatlioglu - Pata Yamaha R1

Toprak Razgatlioglu gave Jonathan Rea more reasons to fear his stunning run of WorldSBK Championship titles will come to an end in 2021 after defeating his decorated counterpart in a straight fight for victory in all three races at Magny-Cours.

Completing the first hat-trick of his WorldSBK career - in so doing extending a streak of four wins - Razgtalioglu simply needed to stick to the script in all three races, capitalising on his sheer strength under braking to repel any creative attack from Rea.

Indeed, though Rea would get ahead twice - including one particularly robust pass at Nurburgring on lap nine, Razgatlioglu would keep dominating his Kawasaki rival under hard braking into the Adelaide hairpin to consistently slip up on the inside of the ZX-10RR.

Breaking away in the closing stages, Razgatlioglu came into the weekend level on points with Rea, but leaves France now 13 points ahead with five rounds remaining.

Completing the podium was Aruba.it Ducati rider Scott Redding, marking a positive end to an otherwise satisfying weekend that has nonetheless dealt a blow to his burgeoning title hopes.

Andrea Locatelli made it 11 top four results in a row on the second of the Pata Yamahas, holding off Chaz Davies, who again recorded his best finish of a race weekend in the third and final outing on the Go Eleven Ducati.

Alvaro Bautista collected a top six finish for Honda - at the expense of team-mate Leon Haslam, who crashed out at Nurburgring - while Michael Ruben Rinaldi, Michael van der Mark - who survived a bizarre and almost nasty straight-line impact with Locatelli - Garrett Gerloff and Tom Sykes completed the top ten.

With attrition limited to just Haslam and Alex Lowes - who for the second time of the weekend crashed out of third place - Axel Bassani, Tito Rabat, Christophe Ponsson, Lucas Mahias and Kohta Nozane pick up the final points of the weekend.
