Petrucci tops warm-up, Marquez second

Danilo Petrucci put the frustration of qualifying off the first two rows on the MotoGP grid behind him by leading morning warm-up with Marc Marquez second.

The pair were locked together on track during yesterday’s dramatic Q2 session, with Petrucci a little unimpressed by Marquez’s tactics, which consisted of waiting behind the Ducati for a tow.

Petrucci’s best time of 1m 54.807s was 0.057s quicker than the reigning world champion, with Alex Rins taking Suzuki’s GSX-RR to the third fastest time, 0.136s back of the Italian.

Pole sitter Maverick Viñales (fourth), Franco Morbidelli (fifth), Takaaki Nakagami (sixth) and Andrea Dovizioso (seventh) all showed good promise in the afternoon session.

Valentino Rossi showed and improvement of sorts after a lousy qualifying session. The 40-year old posted the eleventh fastest time.

The same could not be said about Jorge Lorenzo however, with the Majorcan just 20th fastest and shaking his head in the Repsol Honda garage at the session’s close.
